Reddit’s product chief is leaving, with the CTO taking interim leadership
Reddit announced that Chief Product Officer Maria Angelidou-Smith will leave to become CEO of a globally scaled, multi-billion-dollar business. Her last day is October 14, and the company has begun a search for her successor. CTO Amit Puntambekar will lead the product team until Reddit names a permanent replacement.
Why this matters
Reddit has assigned interim product leadership to its CTO, which gives the team an internal hand at the controls while the search runs. The economic exposure is continuity: product choices shape how users discover communities and return to the app, while those habits underpin the audience Reddit sells to advertisers. Reddit says teams are executing the existing roadmap, but the announcement does not establish how long the interim arrangement will last or how the transition will affect delivery.
